About this site
Oregon Sea Grant has had a presence on the Web almost since the Web was born; our first site went live in 1995, and we've been growing and improving ever since. Today, the site contains more than 2,000 pages of information about ocean and coastal topics.
Our philosophy is simple: The site should serve Sea Grant's mission by making it easy for people to find the information they want about the ocean, ocean science, and about Sea Grant's work, no matter how they access the Web.
We serve multiple audiences:
- Communities of interest: Coastal fishermen, inland watershed owners, people who own or want to own property on the Oregon coast, those who are just visiting and those who've never laid eyes on the Pacific but are curious about the sea.
- Scientists and scholars at Oregon's institutions of higher learning who have - or hope to have - Sea Grant support for peer-reviewed research projects
- Students, from kindergarten through graduate school, who want to learn more about the ocean, or who hope to make their lives studying or managing its resources.
- State, regional and federal policy makers
- Our own faculty and staff, who are scattered the length of Oregon's 363-mile coast and inland as far as Salem and Corvallis
This new design is intended to better serve all those groups. Let us know how we're doing.
