Justin Dalaba

Program - OSG Summer Scholars

Assignment - As a 2016 Summer Scholar, Justin is working on the Marine Reserves Human Dimensions Project at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to assess the social and economic impacts of marine reserves and protected areas on coastal communities and ocean users.

Education - Justin graduated from St. Lawrence University in May 2016 with a BS in Conservation Biology.  During his final year, he completed a comprehensive case study on the decline of heritage strain brook trout in the Adirondack State Park.  Justin also spent a semester studying marine and plant ecology at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Professional and research interests - Justin’s research interests include marine ecology, fisheries management and public outreach.  Such interests arose from his experiences fishing and SCUBA diving in marine and freshwater ecosystems.  Justin’s passion for conservation stems from the many outdoor activities he has incorporated into his life.  He hopes to pursue a master’s degree in the near future after exploring the opportunities in his field of interest.
