Program - OSG Summer Scholars

Assignment - For Neal’s 2017 Summeer Scholar position, he will be working for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) Marine Reserves Program on their Communications Project. His focus will be on using multiple platforms to bring information to the public about the marine reserves.

Education - Neal is going into his senior year at Central Connecticut State University. He is a Natural and Social Marine Science major focusing on marine science education, community outreach, and human behavior change in order to better manage marine resources. He has experience working in marine conservation in Fiji and is hoping to use this opportunity to gain conservation experience in a first world setting.

Professional and research interests - Neal aspires to help bridge the gap between marine scientists and local communities in an effort to increase understanding of the necessity for marine conservation. He eventually wants to work in marine policy and campaign design.
