Now Available : The Oregon Coast Quest Book, 1st Edition!
The first edition of The Oregon Coast Quest book is now available for purchase at bookstores and gift shops throughout Lincoln County. The book contains directions and maps for eight Lincoln County Quests:
- Yaquina Estuary Quest -- Enjoy a spectacular 1 mile walk on the HMSC nature trail and learn about the characteristics of estuarine habitats. (This Quest is also available in Spanish; just ask at the Visitors Center!)
- Big Creek Park Quest -- Learn more about the three creeks that call this city park home.
- Water, Water Everywhere -- Created by students at Newport Middle School, this vigorous Quest starts behind the Newport Pool and shows you where more water can be found.
- Hatfield Marine Science Center Sustainability Quest -- Find out what "sustainability" is and some ways in which HMSC is striving to achieve it.
- Head Start Fern Quest -- This short Quest in Lincoln City was build by a Career Tech High School student and was designed especially for younger children (but it's fun for adults, too).
- Head Start Forest Management Quest -- Career Tech High School students created this Quest to show how recent forest management practices have affected the woods behind Lincoln City Head Start.
- City Center History Quest -- Discover the sometimes surprising history behind familiar buildings in Newport's city center.
- South Beach State Park Quest -- Explore changing habitats behind the sand dunes by following paved and sandy trails.
Collect all eight unique stamp imprints from all the Quests in the back of your book.

You could help by committing to periodically check a Quest in your area to make sure the clues and box are in good order. Or, if your group is interested in creating a Quest for possible inclusion in the 2008 Quest Book, Oregon Coast Quests can help you get started.
For more information contact Cait Goodwin or Nancee Hunter.
