NEWPORT - Join us this Saturday, April 23 for a free showing of the award-winning documentary, Sonic Sea, at 5:30 pm in the Hatfield Marine Science Center auditorium.
Sonic Sea is a 60 minute documentary about the impact of industrial and military ocean noise on whales and other marine life. The film tells the story of a former US Navy officer who solved a tragic mystery and changed forever the way we understand our impact on the ocean. Narrated by Rachel McAdams, the film features Sting, in addition to the renowned ocean experts Dr. Sylvia Earle, Dr. Paul Spong, Dr. Christopher Clark and Jean-Michel Cousteau.
A scientific panel discussion will follow, featuring researchers from the OSU Marine Mammal Institute and OSU's Cooperative Institute for Marine Resource Studies. The program is free and open to the public; doors open at 5:15 pm. Sponsored by Oregon Sea Grant and the American Cetacean Society.
