Program - OSG Summer Scholars
Assignment - As a 2016 Summer Scholar, Jessica will work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on thier Nutrient Uptake as an Ecosystem Service of Estuarine Wetland Habitats project. This research focuses on measuring critical habitat characteristics that regulate the movement and retention of water and biogeochemical processes in coastal salt marshes. This information will be used to assess the transferability of the EPA’s nutrient removal models to these new sites.
Education - Jessica graduated from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in May, 2016 with an Honors B.S in Environmental Science with a concentration in Watersheds and a Marine Science minor.
Professional and research interests - Jessica is looking to take a gap year after graduation to gain more hands-on experience in the field before pursuing a graduate degree focusing on anthropogenic disturbances to coastal ecosystems and the transport and fate of nutrients.
