Streamlining the grant submission process

Webnibus is Oregon Sea Grant's web-based tool for submitting, reviewing, updating and tracking research and outreach grant proposals.

The system has been designed to resemble many paper-based proposal processes, so you should find it easy to use. Feel free to contact us for help at any time.

Enter Webnibus

A few tips for those entering Webnibus for the first time:

Signing up

To verify your identity so you can begin using the system requires a two-step registration process.

  1. Before you first enter the Webnibus site, you must sign up for a user account. If you already have an account but have forgotten your password, (If you have forgotten that information, Webnibus provides you with a means of retrieving it.
  2. After signing up, you will receive an e-mail message from the system. Follow the instructions in the message to activate your account and begin using the system.

Technical notes

  • Add the Webnibus login page to your bookmarks/favorites list. Bookmarking subsequent pages will not work. Alternately, you may use this page as your entry point.
  • Your browser must have Javascript and cookies enabled to use the Webnibus site. (These functions are enabled by default in most browsers; if you have intentionally disabled them, you will need to turn them back on.) We also recommend that you use the latest version of your preferred browser to get maximum use from the system. If either of these facts causes problems, please contact us for information on other ways to submit your proposal.
  • When navigating the Webnibus site, please use the on-screen navigation tools. Using your browser's "Back" button may cause problems.
  • Webnibus removes formatting (special symbols, bold face, italics, underlines, etc.) from text entered into its form fields. If you are composing text elements in a word processing program and pasting the text into the forms, be aware that formatting will be lost and is not required. EXCEPTION: Your project narrative should be saved in MS Word or rich-text format and attached to your proposal via the Webnibus "attach" function. It should be no longer than two double-spaced pages.
  • Save your work frequently. If you are timed out after 45 minutes of inactivity, your work will not save automatically.
  • Once the submission deadline has passed, you will still be able to log in to review your proposal, but will not be able to make further changes.

Additional notes for submitting a full proposal

  • The page limit for full proposals includes graphs and tables, but excludes references and letters of support or commitment.
  • Support letters may be scanned and attached via Webnibus, or sent as hard copy to Oregon Sea Grant up to a week after the submission deadline
  • The project summary is separate from the narrative.
  • We now have an electronic signature process. You will need to have your completed proposal reviewed by your department, college, institute or center before the proposal submission deadline. It is your responsibility to notify the appropriate office that you are submitting a proposal to Oregon Sea Grant.
  • PIs from outside of Oregon State University must indicate on the signature page the authorizing agent - with e-mail and telephone contact information - for the sponsoring program or institution.
