Kathryn Hawes coordinates field trips and special programming for school and youth groups visiting OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. She also develops programming for special events such as Home School Day, Family Programs, and Summer Day Camps and teaches marine education programming for all ages.
She holds a BS in Forest Ecosystem Management from Iowa State University, and a Graduate Certificate from Oregon State University in Sustainable Natural Resources. Before coming to Oregon Sea Grant, she worked as a park ranger at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area and South Beach State Park. As an HMSC museum assistant, she interpreted exhibits, gave public animal feeding presentations and worked with museum volunteers, school groups and the public.
