Looking for fun and a little ocean learning while visiting the central Oregon Coast? Drop by our Visitor Center at OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport for a guided walk along the Yaquina Estuary Trail
Estuary walks start from the Visitor Center at 11 am each day through the end of September, weather permitting. On Wednesdays, the walk is led by a veteran bird-watcher and focuses on the birds that live in and visit the estuary; the other six days, your guides will tell you about the entire estuary ecosystem and the animals and plants you'll find there. The estuary trail is level, paved and wheelchair accessible for most of its length.
The programs are free, and admission to the Visitor Center is by donation. The Center is open Thursdays through Mondays from 10 am to 4 p.m.
