Oregon Sea Grant is accepting applications for several opportunities for graduate-level students and recent grads. Please share with colleagues and friends that may be interested in these opportunities (apologies for cross-postings).
Interested students can find more details below and in the attached summary. We will also host ORSG Graduate Fellowship Office Hours for interested students to ask questions. There will be two sessions hosted on Zoom scheduled for December 19, 10:00-11:00 AM (PT) and January 13, 1:00-2:00PM (PT).
Oregon Sea Grant’s current fellowship opportunities are detailed below.
PhD-level Scholarship Opportunity
- The joint National Marine Fisheries Service/Sea Grant Graduate Fellowship Program in Population and Ecosystem Dynamics and Marine Resource Economics. This is an opportunity for up to three years of funding for PhD students, focusing their research on population and ecosystem dynamics or marine resource economics. Additional information about this scholarship is available on the Oregon Sea Grant website (linked above),
- Application packages must be submitted to the Sea Grant office in the state where you are enrolled by January 23, 2025.
Graduate-Level Fellowship Opportunities
- NOAA is recruiting candidates for the 2025 Coastal Management Fellowship Program. This program's mission is to provide on-the-job education and training opportunities in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students and to provide project assistance to state coastal zone management agencies and other key NOAA partners. Eligibility requirements, descriptions of the projects, and guidance on how to apply can be found on the Oregon Sea Grant website linked above.
- Application packages must be submitted to the Sea Grant office in the state where you will receive or received your degree by January 24, 2025.
- 2026-2027 John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship provides a one-year, paid experience for highly qualified early career professionals to work on issues related to coastal, marine and Great Lakes science and policy in offices within the executive or legislative branch of government in Washington, D.C. Details and application requirements can be accessed on the OSG Knauss Fellowship Page.
- Application packages must be submitted to the Sea Grant office in the state where you will receive or received your degree by February 19, 2025.
How to apply:
Oregon Sea Grant uses eSeaGrant, an online system for submitting fellowship applications. In order to access this system, you must email eseagrant at oregonstate.edu declaring your intent to apply at least one week prior to the application deadline.
Applicants interested and eligible for the Knauss Fellowship and the NMFS Fellowship program are strongly encouraged to contact Stephanie Ichien or Sarah Kolesar at least one month before the application deadline.
