The green crab's reputation as a serious threat is well deserved. A voracious predator, it is able to tolerate air exposure, starvation and a wide range of temperatures and salinity. The crabs were introduced to the U.S. nearly 200 years ago, and they now range from Virginia to the southern shores of Prince Edward Island. This book describes the biology and life history of the European green crab and presents five case studies of green crab invasions. It discusses the crab's ecological and economic impact on the Pacific coast of North America.
