Art abounds at the annual State of the Coast Conference.

Graduate students, undergraduates, and recent graduates of Oregon colleges and universities are invited to submit an application to display their artwork at the State of the Coast Conference. Accepted artwork will be a part of a student art juried exhibition.

Goals of student engagement at State of the Coast

  1. Professional development for students; providing an opportunity for students to share their work and get feedback on how well they communicated about it.
  2. Sharing a diversity of student research and student art, so that conference attendees get a holistic look at current work by Oregon students.

All mediums are welcome: photography, painting, sculpture, video, sound, etc. Works will be displayed virtually, and you can submit up to 3 of photos of the work.

Deadline for submission was October 12, 2020

Note that even though this is virtual, this is a juried exhibition, and awards will be granted (2020 awardees can be viewed below).

Works are reviewed according to the following selection criteria:

  • Was it submitted in time with all required pieces and in a professional manner? (artist's statement, timeliness, completeness)
  • Does the work have a connection with the marine environment/coast of Oregon?
  • Does the work provoke thought?
