Sandy Boles joined Oregon Sea Grant in April 2023 as the assistant to its director and two associate directors. She was most recently an administrative assistant in the Lincoln County School District and an executive assistant to an associate dean at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Before that, she managed a state regulatory lab in Florida that genetically tested citrus trees for bacterial and viral diseases. She also managed a Florida lab that made sure dairy products were safe to consume. Prior to that, she oversaw daily operations of a lab in the biology department at Duke University.
Originally from Florida, Sandy earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Reed College and a master’s in marine science from the College of William and Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science.
