Touchpool Talks

Saturdays | 11 a.m.

Meet us at the touchpools to explore the lives of the many bizarre creatures that call Oregon's rocky intertidal home.

Hatfield Marine Science Day

Hatfield Marine Science Center's annual science fair and open house featuring marine science programs and scientists based at Hatfield. This event is free and family-friendly!

This fun, educational, event will include connections with STEM professionals, hand-on activities, and behind-the-scenes tours of labs at HMSC.

Did you know there are dolphins along Oregon's coast? Learn about these amazing creatures with lectures and activities from the American Cetacean Society.

 

OctoCam

3/11/26 We have a new octopus! To help him acclimate safely, his tank is currently covered with curtains to reduce stress from foot traffic, and we’ll gradually open them as he becomes more comfortable. Please help us by not lifting the curtains, as interruptions can set back the acclimation process. Learn more about our new octopus.

Regional Class Research Vessel

This interactive simulator lets you experience what it feels like to be at the helm of a large research vessel and steer it through Yaquina Bay.

Oregon Coastal Fog Simulator

Use the fog machine to create coastal fog over the ocean and guide it over passing ships! Learn about the benefits of fog and how it changes over time.

Tidepool Touch Tank

Gently pet sea cucumbers, urchins and sea stars. Discover what happens when you stroke the sticky tentacles of a sea anemone. Friendly volunteers are on hand to answer questions and help visitors of all ages.
