Project Description

Pacific Seafood is working to lower wastewater pollution to protect ocean health, meet new environmental rules, and improve efficiency. The team is focused on using resources wisely while keeping local waters clean for future seafood supplies. Key solutions of Cate’s include improving how wastewater is collected, separating shrimp shells earlier to reduce waste and create new byproducts, and upgrading equipment for cleaner processing.

Cate also suggested:

  • Adding a tote dumper at the start of the finfish line in Newport to reduce mess and water use.
  • Installing a pump on the filtration system in Warrenton to treat wastewater more effectively.

Estimated Annual Reductions

Cate's recommendations could have the following annual impacts:

370,000 lbs

Wastewater Pollutants

420,000 gallons
